Emma René
Jewellery
Emma is a self-taught silversmith and jewellery designer based in Tunbridge Wells whose love for jewellery making originally began as a beading hobby. Emma originally trained as a Graphic Designer and had a long career as an Art Director, but in 2015 she decided to take her love for jewellery making to the next level and learnt metalsmithing as well as set up her jewellery business and label, Narratorium.
Emma enjoys using a variety of different techniques in her jewellery making from traditional metal forming, to wax carving/modelling and casting, to using silver metal clay to create her designs. As a designer and storyteller, she loves creating meaningful, timeless pieces that tell a story and can be treasured forever. Many of her collections have been inspired by stories, symbols, proverbs and interesting cultural traditions that she has come across on her travels around the world – another real passion of Emma’s.
She is conscious of working sustainably and ethically, so the majority of her pieces are handmade to order (to avoid waste) using recycled or fairtrade metals, and she enjoys working with manmade or recycled gemstones.
