Marie studied design at Middlesex and the Royal College of Art working in a range of materials - clay, wood, metal and glass. A piece of her work from this time is in the V&A collection. It is her love of working with clay that has endured. Inspiration comes from the natural landscape with a particular fascination for the ocean, movement of water and the shoreline.

Pieces are either wheel-thrown, hand built or a mix of these techniques using stoneware and porcelain clay. She likes to mix and make her own glazes to provide surface decoration and texture. Marie works from her garden studio in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
