WES214, Paua shell earrings
Paua shell, sterling silver
By Camilla West
These earrings are made from slices of natural paua (abalone) shell and sterling silver. The paua shell is beautifully iredescent when the light catches it, with green, pink and cream flashes glinting over the surface. I've oxidised the silver slightly to coordinate better with the colouring of the paua shell, and formed each earring by hand from silver wire. They have stud attachments to keep the lines of the design simple, so they come with a scroll ("butterfly") back to keep them in place. Each slice of shell is just under 3.5cm long, so these will make a statement, but without getting in the way!
