Trained in both Illustration and Fine Art, Carol is both an artist and a teacher who works in a broad spectrum of mediums and is passionate about finding ways to interpret what she sees and feels in paint.

Her work is constantly evolving but is nearly always inspired by nature and the landscape, so she will often go out with a camera collecting reference photos. This is an important part of what she considers ‘continuous practice’  and by  sketching  and sometimes completing a painting on the spot finds this a way of storing and reusing visual stimuli, although she rarely works directly from a photograph.

Most of her contemporary paintings are a result of this practice and just evolve from visual memory. Sizes vary from large 8 x 6 ft canvases to small postcard size paintings with size and scale being an integral part of the initial thought process for a finished piece.

Carol lives in Peasmarsh, Nr Rye. E.Sussex.
